James (father) was a doctor who carried on his late wife's work of providing clean water to those without access and studying the effects of water on health. Lex went to a private Catholic school as a child and stayed home. In her rebellious teen years, she was sent to boarding school when her father's work took him to places he deemed too dangerous for her to go and when he decided she would be more contained there as opposed to at home. He was killed by insurgents on one of these trips, leaving Lex with everything, including the notes of her parents which included references to the Fountain of Youth. While it was largely metaphorical, Lex's curious nature and religious schooling led her to wonder.
After graduation from college, she went searching for the unknown and the historical. The Fountain of Youth is her grand prize, though she has yet to find it -- she did, however, make a name for herself by stealing papers related to Ponce de Leon's voyages and subsequently finding historical artifacts. She is known in the circle of treasure hunters and collectors for a focus on the Judeo-Christian and what legends the Judeo-Christians sought in their colonization efforts.
